Supporting Armed Forces Week
Armed Forces Week is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.
As a part of The Milbank Group and our recently signed pledge, we commit to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community. We recognise the value Serving Personnel, both regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families contribute to our business and our country.
Name: Leo Taylor
Job Title: Remedial Works Fixing Foreman
Rank: Royal Signals Staff Sergeant with 36 Signal Squadron in Colchester – part of the 71 Signal Regiment
71 Signal Regiment is an Army Reserve regiment in the Royal Corps of Signals in the British Army. The regiment forms part of 11th Signal Brigade, providing military communications for national operations.
Time in service: Army Reserves – 13 years
Time at Milbank: 9 years
How have Milbank assisted with your journey serving as a reservist?
Milbank have been really supportive throughout my time here and their recent pledge signing to the Armed Forces Covenant has just reinforced this. 2 weeks every year we go away on training exercises and I am generously given the additional 10 days paid leave needed (on top of my holiday allowance) to accommodate for this. Last year I was in Gibraltar and this year we are heading out to Cyprus.
Occasionally I have weekend training exercises that require me to be ready to leave Friday evening, returning late on Sunday. Milbank have always been really flexible and given me the time needed to make sure I’m back in time and ready to head out.
On top of this, their continued support for the Armed Forces has even allowed me to participate in lunchtime lectures to the Milbank Group employees where I get to showcase our achievements, the benefits the service has given us and how it helps contribute successfully to a civilian organisation.
Thanks Leo, we think you’re great!
